Vehicle Description Gateway Classic Cars Las Vegas is pleased to present a Red Hot 1956 Oldsmobile Super 88 Hardtop in a two tone Chili Pepper Red with White paired with a matching Red and Creme White interior.
The Olds 88 was produced from 1949-1999 with 88 series being the image leader for Oldsmobile.
The Olds 88 carried a larger high performance V8 and was considered by some to be the first muscle car.
The second generation 88 was a complete restyle in 1954 and carried the new and more powerful 324ci V8and for 1956 the horsepower was boosted to 240hp with an upgraded 4 barrel carb.
Mated to this new V8 was a new Jetaway Hydramatic 4 speed transmission along with a foot operated parking brake.
This example in Red and White carries all the iconic 1950's styling cues such as the thick wide white walls and lots of heavy shiny chrome in the front and in rear with the jet age styled tail lights and the signature 88 with the jet plane integrated into the design.
Driving this 88 is a pleasurable step into a time when driving was cruising and comfort and horsepower were what made a car along with lots of chrome.
